MediaTek has unveiled a new mid-range 5G processor named Dimensity 800U in their endeavor to bring 5G to masses, this newest offering in the Dimensity 800-series is intended to deliver premium experiences on a reasonably cheaper budget. Making it the actually sixth processor by the company, and it comes with an integrated 5G modem.
It has an 800U is a 7nm processor with a total of eight cores. There are two ARM Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.4GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0GHz. The chipset has ARM Mali-G57 GPU for handling all the graphics severe tasks as well as gaming experiences. MediaTek has even bundled a free AI processing unit aka APU to take care of all AI-powered responsibilities.
There is compatibility with up to Full HD+ displays, up to 120Hz refresh rate, and HDR10+ standard, the processor supports LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.1 onboard storage for devices. This means OEMs will be able to offer a higher display experience on their mid-range devices if they opt for this processor. Additionally, it features support for quad rear cameras with up to 64-megapixel sensors.
Dimensity 800U is a 5G processor for mid-range smartphones. It supports 5G+5G dual SIM dual standby (DSDS), dual Voice over New Radio (VoNR), and 5G two carrier aggregation (2CC 5G-CA). There are presently no words on when we can expect smartphones to arrive with this new chipset but we will update you on as soon as it arrives at Wapmastazone.
