iPhone 12 Mini to be Supported 12W MagSafe Wireless Charging
Apple has recently updated its support document web page meant for MagSafe wireless charger to reflect a major change. It was made known that iPhone 12 mini will support only up to 12W wireless charging with the MagSafe charger. This is a bit slower than the maximum 15W charging speed available for iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 12.
It is important to also know that the 12W charging speed for iPhone 12 mini is in ideal condition. The actual charging wattage would depend on factors like temperature, system activities, and current battery charge. According to Apple’s recommendation, one would need at least a 9V/2.03A adapter for getting the highest possible charging speed.
It is also stated that the iPhone may get slightly warmer while been charged but it should be considered a normal behavior. however, If the phone gets too warm, the charging speed may be reduced to extend the battery life.
Apple also stated that, if if you put your iPhone on the MagSafe charging pad and also charge the phone with the lightning cable at the same time, the iPhone would get charged through the cable instead.
With this new information, a smaller display and battery are not the only difference between the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12. This should not be a deal-breaker though as standard Qi wireless chargers will only offer 7.5W charging speed. This is even slower than MagSafe delivers on the Mini.
