WhatsApp has created a devoted page that will feature all security-related disclosures. The page is named WhatsApp Security Advisories which is a self-explanatory name for what it is aimed to do. It will basically list every the exposures discovered and patched by the WhatsApp security group.
Currently, WhatsApp has programmed a total of six vulnerabilities that have been solved. It believed that though five of these were patched the same day they were noticed, the lingering one was fixed in two days of instance. Most notably, the group did not discover any evidence that these vulnerabilities were actively exploited by hackers.
In the official publication, WhatsApp said:
“Owing to the policies and practices of app stores, we cannot at all-time list security advisories in-app release notes. This advisory page provides a comprehensive list of WhatsApp security updates and associated Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE). Please note that the details included in CVE descriptions are meant to help researchers understand technical scenarios and do not imply users were impacted in this manner.”
The advisory will be efficient on a monthly source but if there is a dynamic attack ongoing, the team may decide to update it at the same time. It will operate as a central place for contacting every vulnerability linked problems of the application that will be useful to security researchers.
We love to hear from you, please comment and share.
